Marble Cake

Chocolat Vanille Marbre Gateau. Don’t we all think French is a pretty language, well that’s all I know in French and don’t be too impressed, I looked it up.

This cake is the perfect teatime cake, not super sweet. You can taste the Vanilla as well as the Chocolate which is my biggest issue with Marble cakes , you just can’t figure out what they taste like.

I hope you enjoy making this as much as I enjoyed creating this recipe .If you do make it, you know what to do!

Ingredients:

- 1 cup butter(softened)

- 1 cup sugar

- 5 large eggs

- 2 tablespoons Vanilla extract

- 2 cups All purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1 cup warm milk

- 1/4 cup Dutch processed cocoa or a premium quality cocoa powder ( I use the #Ghirardelli brand)

- 4 tablespoons boiling hot water

Directions are up in my highlights under “Marble Cake” & written directions are below!

Directions:

-Preheat Oven to 350° F . And grease a Bundt cake pan generously.

- Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl (if using a hand mixer ) or in a stand mixer ,until light and fluffy then add eggs one by one and vanilla extract.Beat well for a few minutes until mixture is a pastel yellow color.Scrape sides with a spatula and beat again.

- Now sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

- On low speed, In the wet ingredients, incorporate flour and milk( alternating between the two). Do not over mix your batter. It is ok for some flour streaks to show. Now scrape the sides and mix in once more.

- In a small bowl mix together cocoa powder and water until a paste is formed.

- Now in another bowl , scoop half the batter out and fold in the chocolate paste (shown in directions).

- Put both batters in your baking pan in a random pattern and bake in 350° F preheated oven for 40-45 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

- Can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week!

Enjoy!
